Start Creative has been added to the roster of the Learning and Skills Council (LSC), in a move that will see the agency work across its marketing, communications and design projects. The LSC selected Start for marketing, communications and design, including branding and corporate communications, along with youth, consumer and business-to-business marketing.
"It's great to be associated and working with the organisation leading the vision to give young people and adults in England the knowledge and productive skills to match the best in the world," said Mike Curtis, managing director at Start Creative.
The LSC is responsible for funding and planning education and straining for people over the age of 16 years-old in England and aims to ensure that all individuals get the opportunity to learn new skills and improve the quality of their lives at home and at work. It was set up in 2001 to replace Training and Enterprise and the Further Education Funding Council.
In May, the LSC appointed start-up consultancy 35 to review its branding and communications as part of chief executive Mark Haysom's plans to provide a "clearer" tone of voice and identity for the organisation. Earlier this month, Start designed the identity for Virgin Galactic, the first service providing commercial flights into space. The agency was also behind the name, look and feel of Bites, Virgin Mobile's entertainment portal that replaced its Virgin Xtras offering.
As part of its work for the brand, Start created the website for Bites, which forms the service's key information portal with content updated on a daily basis. The site is designed to help position Bites as an antidote to boredom and features pictures showing people using the services in places where you would expect to see people amusing themselves with their phones, such as bus stops.
