START RIDES THE CIRCLE LINE

Dan Radley, Dan Potter and Levent Ali from Start have
joined forces with students from the London College of Communication to contribute to the opening event of this year's London Design Festival.

Launched 15 September 2005, From Here to Here is a collaboration which brings together London Underground's Platform for Art, design students from the London College of Communication and members of the writers' group '26'.

Inspired by the Circle Line, the project's jump-off points are some of the most evocative locations in London. These are reinterpreted through the eyes of writers and designers in an eclectic tour.

The book
From Here To Here: Stories inspired by the Circle Line

Dan Radley is among 31 writers who explore the physical and emotional landscape around London's Circle Line stations through fiction, poetry, memoir and reportage. Contributors include Simon Armitage, Martin Gorst and Ian Marchant.

Published by Cyan Books, 1 September, priced £12.99, ISBN: 1904879357

The poster
Dan Radley teamed up with Suzanne Moriarty, Natalie Caygill and Imran Hussain - all students from the London College of Communication (formerly the London College of Printing) - to design a London Underground poster inspired by Victoria station.

Platform for Art is displaying the series of posters around the Circle Line until 8 October, with the complete set currently showing at Embankment station.

The website
Dan Radley and the students decided to give their Victoria poster an extra dimension by supporting it with its own dedicated website. Start interactive designer Dan Potter and web developer Levent Ali joined the team, and their specialised skills and sense of fun took the project to another level. Have a click around and upload a little piece of yourself...

The exhibition
A series of exhibits designed by the student/writer teams are now on show at the London College of Communication. The exhibition, which is on a surpisingly grand scale, also showcases excerpts from the book and the complete set of Underground posters.

Runs from 12 October at London College of Communication at Elephant & Castle.
